Halloween Treats Without the Tricks!

Halloween Treats Without the Tricks!

I’ve never been a huge Halloween fanatic, but there is one thing I absolutely LOVE about Halloween: TREATS! I mean who doesn’t love having an excuse to binge eat all things candy!?

This year, due to the Ontario College Strike, I had the time this year to do some Halloween baking. My brother is currently in his final year of teachers college and so I made him some spooky Halloween treats for his Grade 5 class! I found a cat cookie cutter at Bulk Barn and just used a circle cookie cutter for my spider webs! I figured why not help him get some extra points with his students by bringing in some homemade goodies.

The sugar cookie recipe I used is super easy and quick to make for any occasion! I used the royal icing recipe to also decorate the cookies, but you can always by the ready-made icing tubes to decorate your cookies! However, when decorating I realized the food coloring I had wouldn’t make black... so I got as close to a grey color as I could - which turned out better than I expected!

For my mom‘s Halloween office party I made her Red Velvet Ghost Cake Pops. It was the first time making cake pops and they were so much fun to make (I’ll definitely be making these again). I used my favorite red velvet cupcake recipe and followed this recipe from Sally's Baking Addiction for the assembly!

Now that Halloween is over, it is the official start of the Christmas season - my all-time favorite time of the year! Keep checking back as I will try to keep you updated all things holidays!
